Dec. 22 2005

Today is the forth visit to AMC in NY City. Since last visit, I have been quite well, eating as usual and walking actively even on the heavy snow.

To More Photos...
[Dec 22 Thu] As New York transportation system is striking and incoming cars are restricted until 11am, my master anticipated a heavy traffic and we started Fort Lee shortly after that time. Unlike last time, it was indeed crowded and took one and quarter hours this time to get to the city. Besides, the 63rd street, where my master usually parks his car in a garage, was closed and he had to park his car at the AMC parking garage.

By this time, I knew well where I was heading, so that I resisted entering into the front door of the hospital as well as the elevator up to the 8th floor with no success. However, I am far more obedient compared with a poodle accompanied by the refined looking old lady. This dog resisted violently going with a doctor and the doctor had to take him in her arms. Dr. Arteaga came to take me about one hour ahead of the appointment time and I followed her very obediently.

It was the last DNA vaccination and I got injected the strongest vaccine this time. The treatment ended only in 10 minutes and an assistant took me back to the waiting room. After a while, Dr. Arteaga came to us and told us that everything was going well so far with no recurrence in the mouth and the current treatment will end with the examination in two weeks. If everything is found ok at that time, there will a regular inspection every 6 months.

This time in the waiting room, I met three cancer patients. One of them is the poodle I talked about before. According to her mistress, she is a 13 years old very active dog that behaves like a baby. She had melanoma in her eye-lid and after the surgery, has been visiting this hospital for the same treatment as mine. She is coming all the way from New Hampshire, driving four and half hours one way. The young man sitting besides her mistress turned out to be a driver who is hired by the lady for this trip. The young couple, who came to pick up the second patient dog after treatment on the assignment from another client, happened to be also all the way from New Hampshire. The third dog that came in with an old man was from Suffern, New York State and this 9 years old dog had melanoma on his toenail bed.

We left the hospital shortly after 1pm. The next visit is scheduled on January 5th 1:30pm.
