Happy New Year! Here I am, celebrating the New Year sitting next to my Master. This is my year, as it is the year of the dog according to the Japanese traditional calendar.

To More Photos...
Last year, it was a bad year for me as I suffered from two serious diseases, but at least, I lived through it as I had promised to my master at the beginning of the year. Hopefully, I can live through this year as well to please my master and his family who have been treating me with such loving cares.

[Jan 5 Thu]Today is the last visit to the Animal Medical Center in the series of 5 vaccination treatments, which began in early November last year. We left home a few minutes past noon and headed for the City. It was very crowded on the East Side Drive and it took us about 45 minutes to arrive at the hospital parking garage. As we went into the waiting room of the oncology department on the 8th floor shortly before 1 o'clock, we saw the old lady and her driver from New Hampshire, whom we met last time. Her poodle was under treatment and she welcomed and petted me with a smile.

Waiting for a while and way ahead of the appointment time, Dr. Arteaga walked in with a smile, calling me “Hello Coty", and took me away to the therapy place. It took over an hour this time and I was under various tests including two X-ray examinations. As Dr. Arteaga took me back to the waiting room, she told my master and his wife as follows:

[Dr. Arteaga said]“Everything seems so well with Coty. The spot in the lung we were concerned about is gone completely this time, probably as the result of the vaccination which should have become effective after the third treatment. Also, there is no sign of a recurrence in the mouth now but you should check his mouth every so often and let me know when you find even a very small swell. Otherwise, please visit us after 6 months for the inspection and the additional vaccination. Even if nothing happens, this should be repeated very 6 months. Except that, he can live quite normally as he used to do before.”

It was not as lucky as mine with the poodle of the old lady. They found a recurrence on her eye and the old lady was advised to take her either to Cornell University in Utica or New England Center in Boston for radiation treatment. Unfortunately, AMC does not have the equipment for eye radiation and they know that Cornell University has one for sure. The old lady was told to check with New England Center beforehand whether they have the necessary equipment or not. We left AMC, praying that we need not come back here in 6 months.
