[June 5 Monday] A few days ago, my master’s daughter brought a new basin to wash my legs; more exactly speaking, to wash my right front leg. As I feel now a big pressure on the right side of my face, I often try to scratch that part with my right front leg, leaving the blood stain on it. Whenever any family member spots me scratching the tumor, they hold my leg gently and stop me from doing it. However, I always find occasions to be alone and freely scratching my tumor. Therefore, very frequently, I get my right front leg washed in the basin. This morning before going out for a walk, I got my leg washed already twice. We first sent the lady from the cat’s house to the hospital. Then, my master parked the car in the northern parking lot of Dunker Hook, Saddle River County Park. Of course, we went to the back path along the river, where I went into the water. It was not very hot, so I remained standing for some time while drinking water. On our way back to the hospital, they took out the Kalbi dishes from the Korean restaurant and gave almost all the meats to me at home for lunch. I ate about two thirds of them. For dinner, I ate 2 pieces of fried chicken that my mistress and her daughter cooked for me and my master tore into small pieces.
[June 6 Tuesday] When I woke up, I begged my master for some food, although I left untouched 1/3 of the Kalbi meat from yesterday. My master opened up a can of Fancy Treat (beef and liver feast) for cat and I ate about 2/3 of it. Today, my master sent the lady of the cats’ house to a different place, which is a rehabilitation hospital. Then, he drove to the Rochelle parking lot of Saddle River County Park behind the residential area. This is a very quiet and little known parking of the park, but he sometimes take me here to walk for a change. There were a few families of Canadian geese with two dozens of babies eating lawn grass in the field in front of the lot. My mistress went to take pictures, while my master held me on leash not to scare them. We then took a detour avoiding the geese families and crossed the bridge to the other side of the river, where I ran down the short steep into the river. Although my master was concerned whether I could climb back the steep, I did it without any problem. I had no appetite during the long drive via the rehab hospital back to home. However, at home I ate one bowl of thin beef slices my mistress cooked in the morning as well as some portion of the meat loaf that my master took out from a Diner that they dropped in for lunch. After I took my late lunch, I spent most of the time sleeping. [June 7 Wednesday] It is raining today. We picked the lady from her cat’s house and sent her to the same rehab hospital. Then, my master drove through busy streets and I was looking out of the window, wondering where we were heading. Our destination was River Side Shopping Mall. After dropping off my mistress, he parked his car at the outer area of a big under-roof parking and let me walk in the parking area, thus avoiding the rain. Then, he found a stair way leading to the lower parking floor surrounded by the green lawn. He led me down the stair way to the lower floor and let me walk along the lawn. On the way back through the stair way, I got out of breath and my master held me in his arms and came back to the upper floor. He then drove his car down to the lower floor and parked at the edge facing the lawn. He left a bowl of thin sliced beef in the back sheet and went into the building. As I got hungry, I ate most of the pieces leaving only a few in the bowl. My master came back with the torn-up beef steak in the lunch box and put it in my bowl. I ate up all including what I had left in the bowl. As I was wearing my rain coat, I walked a little on the lawn in the rain after my lunch. After picking up my mistress from the building, we drove back to the rehab hospital under heavy rain, sent the lady back to her cat’s house and we got back. At home, I took a nap together with my mistress in the bed.
[Description of Coty’s condition June 7 Wednesday:]It has become easy to check his tumor in the mouse, as he cannot close his right lips any more and his right dog tooth is sticking outside almost horizontally. The tumor has grown over 5 cm and there are a few rotten white spots on the surface. The round shaped elevation about 1 cm down from his eye (on top of his outside bump) has not grown bigger but black pus is now steadily flowing down, indicating that the hole exists underneath. However, it looks like that the tumor has not reached his eye yet. His general condition seems to be slowing down gradually. Now, we always find blood stain on his right front leg and we frequently wash the leg. He is eating less and only limited items. However, he walks and climbs down into the river as before. We thought his time would arrive this week but he is still showing his will to live by continuing to eat and walk. We are now inclined to watch him until next week. We are giving him 75mg of Tramadol three times a day, 1 tablet of Clavamox a day (as he does not eat in the morning any more, we can no longer give 2 tablets), and 30 lb of Metacam three times a week (given with thin sliced beef). Dr. Soeda is suggesting that we use narcotic analgesics such as Fentayl patch or Butorphanol to ease his pain. As we will see Dr. DeSantis of Oradell hospital tomorrow, we will discuss whether we should switch over to it or not.
